Description

A sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie designed for the quantitative measurement of human platelet-activating factor acetylhydrolase (PLA2G7) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids. PLA2G7, also known as lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 or PAF acetylhydrolase, modulates the action of platelet-activating factor by hydrolyzing the sn-2 ester bond to yield the biologically inactive lyso-PAF, and has specificity for substrates with a short residue at the sn-2 position while being inactive against long-chain phospholipids.

The assay is reactive with human samples and detects natural and recombinant human PLA2G7 (UniProt Q13093). Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 93.75–6000 pg/mL and a sensitivity of 23.4 pg/mL. Intra-assay precision is 8.2% and inter-assay precision is 9.9%. Linearity is reported across 1:2 to 1:16 dilutions in serum (109–119% to 107–117%), EDTA plasma (81–90% to 97–109%) and heparin plasma (96–106% to 92–102%). Mean recovery is 95% (range 89–101%) in serum and 97% (range 91–103%) in plasma. The kit is intended for research use only, with applications in immunology and the study of lipid metabolism and inflammation, including cardiovascular disease and atherosclerosis.
