PTTG1IP interacts with Pituitary Tumor-Transforming Gene 1 (PTTG1), playing a role in cell cycle regulation and tumorigenesis. Elevated levels have been associated with various cancers, making the protein a potential therapeutic target and biomarker for disease progression. Alternative names include Pituitary tumor-transforming gene protein-binding factor, PBF, C21orf1 and C21orf3. According to the UniProt entry P53801, the protein may facilitate PTTG1 nuclear translocation and is located as a single-pass type I membrane protein in the membrane, cytoplasm and nucleus.

Validated performance figures include a detection range of 0.156-10ng/mL and sensitivity of 0.078ng/mL. Intra-assay precision is 4.8% CV and inter-assay precision is 9.2% CV. Recovery averages 101% in serum (range 95-107%) and 103% in plasma (range 97-109%). The kit shows specificity for natural and recombinant human PTTG1IP.
