PI4KB (Phosphatidylinositol 4-Kinase Beta) is a ubiquitously expressed lipid kinase of approximately 91 kDa that converts phosphatidylinositol to phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate (PI4P). PI4P is a key regulator of membrane identity, vesicular trafficking from the Golgi, and plasma membrane signaling. The enzyme is recruited to membranes through ACBD3 protein interactions and serves as a host factor exploited by several positive-sense RNA viruses during genome replication.
