The assay is reactive with human samples and is validated for serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids. Specificity covers natural and recombinant human PIK3CA. The manufacturer reports a detection range of 0.156-10ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.056ng/mL. Precision figures are an intra-assay CV of 4.8% and an inter-assay CV of 9.1%.

Linearity was assessed at 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 dilutions for serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma. Recovery is reported as 89% (range 83-95%) for serum and 91% (range 85-97%) for plasma.
