Description

This colorimetric sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative detection of human Phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-trisphosphate-dependent Rac exchanger 1 protein (PREX1), also referred to by the synonyms P-Rex1 and KIAA1415. The assay is intended for research use only and shows reactivity with human samples.

PREX1 is a key protein involved in signal transduction pathways, particularly in regulating cell migration and invasion. It functions as a RAC guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF), activating Rac proteins by exchanging bound GDP for free GTP. Its activity is synergistically activated by phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-trisphosphate and the beta-gamma subunits of heterotrimeric G protein, and it may act downstream of heterotrimeric G proteins in neutrophils. Dysregulation of PREX1 has been linked to diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disorders, and metabolic syndromes. The protein is catalogued under UniProt accession Q8TCU6 (NCBI Gene ID: 57580) with a molecular weight of 175,847 Da.

The assay detects natural and recombinant human PREX1 in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. It provides a detection range of 0.156-10 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.082 ng/mL, with an intra-assay CV of 5.5% and an inter-assay CV of 7.5%. The kit is suited to research in cancer and signal transduction, and is recommended to be stored at -20°C.
