Peroxisomal biogenesis factor 14 (PEX14) is a membrane-anchored docking receptor that drives protein import into peroxisomes, and the Assay Genie Human PEX14 ELISA Kit enables quantitative measurement of this peroxin in human specimens. PEX14 forms part of the importomer complex and recognizes cargo proteins carrying peroxisomal targeting signals, playing a central role in shuttling matrix enzymes into the organelle where fatty acid beta-oxidation, plasmalogen biosynthesis, and hydrogen peroxide detoxification take place.

This kit is intended for studies of peroxisomal biogenesis disorders, including Zellweger syndrome and neonatal adrenoleukodystrophy, where defective PEX14 function leads to failed protein import and severe metabolic dysfunction.
