Description

Assay Genie offers a Human Peroxiredoxin-2 (PRDX2) ELISA Kit designed for the quantitative measurement of PRDX2 in human samples including serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The kit uses a sandwich ELISA, double-antibody format and is reactive with human samples only, with specificity for natural and recombinant human Peroxiredoxin-2.

According to the manufacturer's specification for one configuration of the kit, sensitivity is 0.469 ng/mL with a detection range of 0.781–50 ng/mL (S1). An alternative configuration of the same product line reports a sensitivity of 0.074 ng/mL, a detection range of 0.156–10 ng/mL, intra-assay CV of 6.7% and inter-assay CV of 9.9% (S3). Both kits use a colorimetric, sandwich-based detection principle (C0, S2, S3). The PRDX2 target is a member of the peroxiredoxin family of antioxidant enzymes that reduce hydrogen peroxide and alkyl hydroperoxides, involved in redox regulation of the cell, and implicated in oxidative stress-related processes such as response to reactive oxygen species, hydrogen peroxide catabolic process, and negative regulation of apoptosis (S3). Dysregulation of PRDX2 has been linked to conditions including cancer, neurodegenerative disorders and cardiovascular disease, making the kit a useful tool for research in oxidative stress and redox biology (S1, S3).

The procedure involves equilibrating reagents, loading standards and samples onto the pre-coated plate, incubation steps with biotinylated detection antibody and HRP-streptavidin conjugate, color development with TMB substrate, and absorbance reading at 450 nm (S1). One configuration lists kit storage at 2–8°C for 12 months (S1), while another indicates storage at -20°C for up to one year with possible short-term storage at 4°C for up to six months (S2). For research use only.
