The assay uses a coated-antigen competitive ELISA format with a sensitivity of 18.75 pg/mL and a measuring range of 31.25–2000 pg/mL. Acceptable sample types include serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples. Reported linearity falls within 80–105% across serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma at 1:2, 1:4 and 1:8 dilutions, with recovery averaging 95–96% in those matrices. The kit should be stored sealed at 2–8°C and should not be cryopreserved.

Detection is colorimetric, relying on a biotin-labeled antibody, HRP-streptavidin conjugate and TMB substrate, with absorbance read at 450 nm after a stop reaction that turns the signal from blue to yellow. The procedure includes reagent and plate preparation, sample and biotin-antibody binding, washing, colour development, stop reaction and reading.
