Phosphatidylcholine transfer protein (PCTP) is a START-domain lipid carrier that mediates the intracellular movement of phosphatidylcholine between membrane compartments, and the Assay Genie PCTP ELISA Kit is a quantitative immunoassay developed to measure PCTP protein levels in samples from human donors, supporting research into lipid metabolism, membrane biogenesis, and prostate cancer biology.

The kit is supplied as a complete reagent set including a pre-coated microplate, lyophilized recombinant PCTP standards, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, wash buffer, substrate solution, and stop reagent. The procedure follows a standard ELISA workflow: load standards and samples, incubate, wash, add detection antibody, wash again, develop with substrate, and read absorbance on a microplate reader. A standard curve generated from the recombinant PCTP standards is used to quantify PCTP in each test sample.

PCTP has been investigated in studies of prostate cancer progression, where altered phosphatidylcholine handling has been associated with tumor cell behavior, and the assay is also used in lipid homeostasis research. Researchers employ the kit to compare PCTP levels across experimental conditions, treatment cohorts, or disease versus control groups. The kit is labeled for research use only and is not intended for diagnostic procedures.

Specifications include sufficient reagents for 96 determinations per microplate, with samples run in duplicate per the recommended protocol. Storage: store kit components refrigerated at 4°C as indicated on the enclosed product insert, and bring reagents to room temperature before use.
