Parkin, encoded by the PARK2 gene, is a roughly 52 kDa E3 ubiquitin ligase central to mitochondrial quality control and mitophagy. Loss-of-function mutations in PARK2 are the most common genetic cause of autosomal recessive juvenile Parkinsonism, and altered Parkin expression is also reported in sporadic Parkinson's disease brain tissue. The Assay Genie Human Parkinson Disease Protein 2 (PARK2) ELISA Kit enables quantitative measurement of human Parkin protein in research samples, with a configuration optimized for tissue homogenates and related biological preparations. Investigators in neurodegeneration, mitochondrial biology, and dopaminergic neuron survival apply this quantitative immunoassay to compare Parkin concentrations across patient cohorts, postmortem brain regions, and cell-based disease models. The kit includes reagents for 96 individual determinations with a colorimetric endpoint, supporting medium-throughput study designs ranging from small biomarker pilots to larger case-control analyses.
