Description

Manufactured by Assay Genie, this sandwich ELISA kit enables precise measurement of human pantetheinase (VNN1) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. Pantetheinase, also known as VNN1, is an enzyme that plays a critical role in regulating the cellular levels of pantetheine, a precursor to coenzyme A, and is also referred to by the synonyms Pantetheine hydrolase, Tiff66, Vascular non-inflammatory molecule 1, and Vanin-1. Dysregulation of pantetheinase has been linked to various diseases, including metabolic disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and neurodegenerative conditions.

The assay delivers a detection range of 0.156–10 ng/mL with a sensitivity of 0.044 ng/mL. Reported precision values are an intra-assay CV of 3.4% and an inter-assay CV of 7.3%. The kit has been validated for use on natural and recombinant human pantetheinase, and the accepted sample types include serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids.

Functionally, VNN1 is an amidohydrolase that hydrolyzes specifically one of the carboamide linkages in D-pantetheine, recycling pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) and releasing cysteamine. The protein is a monomer located at the cell membrane as a GPI-anchored, lipid-anchored molecule (UniProt O95497). This product is intended for research use only.
