Description

This Sandwich ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative measurement of human Pancreas/duodenum homeobox protein 1 (PDX1) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids. The assay uses a colorimetric detection method and is reactive with human samples. It shows specificity for natural and recombinant human PDX1 and is intended for research use only.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 15.6-1000pg/mL and a sensitivity of 1.7pg/mL. The kit demonstrates an intra-assay CV of 5.7% and an inter-assay CV of 10.5%. Linearity has been validated in serum (92-113%), EDTA plasma (95-115%), and heparin plasma (90-117%) across serial dilutions. Average recovery is 87% for serum (range 81-93%) and 89% for plasma (range 83-95%).

PDX1 is a key transcription factor involved in pancreatic development and beta-cell function, where it regulates insulin, somatostatin, glucokinase, islet amyloid polypeptide, and glucose transporter type 2 gene transcription. The target is also referred to by synonyms including Glucose-sensitive factor (GSF), Insulin promoter factor 1 (IPF-1), Insulin upstream factor 1 (IUF-1), Islet/duodenum homeobox-1 (IDX-1), and Somatostatin-transactivating factor 1 (STF-1). Dysregulation of PDX1 has been linked to diabetes and other pancreatic disorders, making it a valuable biomarker for research into these conditions.
