Description

A sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie designed for the quantitative detection of human Oxytocin receptor (OXTR) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The kit is specific for natural and recombinant human Oxytocin receptor and is intended for research use only.

Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 78-5000 pg/mL, a sensitivity of 39 pg/mL, an intra-assay CV of 4.9% and an inter-assay CV of 7.1%. Linearity has been characterised in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma across dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16. Recovery in serum averaged 93% (range 87-99%) and in plasma averaged 95% (range 89-101%).

Oxytocin receptor (UniProt P30559; synonym OT-R) is a G-protein coupled receptor located at the cell membrane, which mediates the effects of oxytocin through a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system. Dysregulation of the oxytocin system has been linked to autism, anxiety disorders and social deficits, supporting use of this assay in studies of the receptor's role in health and disease.
