The Oxidative Stress Responsive Kinase 1 (OXSR1) is a serine/threonine kinase at the center of the WNK–SPAK/OSR1 signaling cascade, phosphorylating cation-chloride cotransporters such as NKCC1, NKCC2, and KCC2 to regulate intracellular chloride, cell volume, and ion homeostasis. Because this pathway is implicated in vascular tone, renal salt handling, and the cellular response to reactive oxygen species, quantitative measurement of OXSR1 protein is increasingly used in studies of hypertension, ischemic injury, and tumor biology.
