Description

Manufactured by Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA Kit is intended for the quantitative measurement of human osteopontin (SPP1) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay is reactive with human samples and uses a colorimetric readout, with absorbance measured at 450 nm.

Osteopontin (SPP1) is a secreted phosphoprotein involved in cell adhesion, migration, and immune regulation. It functions as a cytokine that enhances production of interferon-gamma and interleukin-12 and reduces production of interleukin-10, contributing to the pathway leading to type I immunity. The protein acts as a ligand for integrin alpha-V/beta-3 and is researched in the context of cancer, inflammation, and cardiovascular disorders. Synonyms include Bone sialoprotein 1, Nephropontin, Secreted phosphoprotein 1, Urinary stone protein, Uropontin, SPP-1, PSEC0156, BNSP, and OPN.

The kit offers a detection range of 0.156–10 ng/mL with a sensitivity of 0.07 ng/mL. Reported precision values are an intra-assay CV of 5.8% and an inter-assay CV of 11.5%. Dilutional linearity (N=5) spans 92–102%, 88–97%, 99–109% and 88–98% for serum at 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 dilutions; 109–119%, 108–119%, 85–94% and 81–91% for EDTA plasma; and 99–109%, 87–97%, 117–117% and 91–102% for heparin plasma across the same dilutions. Mean recovery is 110% (range 104–116%) in serum and 112% (range 106–118%) in plasma. The assay specifically detects natural and recombinant human osteopontin (UniProt P10451, molecular weight 33,843 Da). For research use only.
