Osteocalcin, also known as Bone Gla Protein (BGLAP), is a vitamin K-dependent, gamma-carboxylated protein secreted by osteoblasts during bone matrix synthesis. Circulating levels serve as a biochemical marker of bone turnover and are widely used in osteoporosis research, metabolic bone disease studies, and investigations of bone formation dynamics. Because osteocalcin is also released during bone resorption, measuring circulating concentrations helps distinguish high-turnover from low-turnover bone loss in clinical research.

The Assay Genie immunoassay supports quantification of osteocalcin in cell culture supernatants and human plasma samples, enabling biomarker studies in endocrinology and bone metabolism research workflows.

Reconstituted standard vials should be stored at -20 °C and protected from light until use; bring all reagents to room temperature before initiating the protocol. For research use only, including clinical biomarker validation studies.
