Description

From Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA Kit is designed for the quantitative measurement of Human Orexin (HCRT) in research samples. It is reactive with human serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, and shows specificity for natural and recombinant human Orexin.

The assay reports a detection range of 9.375-600pg/mL with a sensitivity of 3.65pg/mL. Precision is given as an intra-assay CV of 6.7% and an inter-assay CV of 8.5%. Recovery is reported at an average of 100% (range 94-106%) for serum and 102% (range 96-108%) for plasma. Reported linearity across 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 dilutions is 91-103%, 80-90%, 91-100% and 96-108% for serum (N=5); 116-125%, 86-96%, 101-111% and 96-105% for EDTA plasma (N=5); and 105-115%, 106-116%, 98-107% and 102-112% for heparin plasma (N=5).

Orexin, also known as Hypocretin, Hcrt, OX, PPORX or PPOX, is a neuropeptide involved in the regulation of food intake and sleep-wakefulness, with broader roles suggested in the homeostatic regulation of energy metabolism, autonomic function, hormonal balance and the regulation of body fluids. Orexin-A binds to both OX1R and OX2R with high affinity, whereas orexin-B binds only to OX2R with similar high affinity. The associated UniProt entry is O43612 and the research area is Metabolism.
