Description

A sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie designed for the quantitative measurement of human Opticin (OPTC). The kit is intended for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, and detects both natural and recombinant human Opticin, with reactivity confirmed for human samples.

Manufacturer-quoted performance characteristics include a detection range of 78-5000pg/ml, a sensitivity of 32pg/mL, an intra-assay CV of 4.5% and an inter-assay CV of 9.2%. Linearity has been evaluated in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma across dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16. Average recovery is 109% in serum (range 103-115%) and 111% in plasma (range 105-117%). The microplate is read at 450 nm using a standard microplate reader.

Opticin, also known as Oculoglycan or OPT, is a member of the small leucine-rich proteoglycan (SLRP) family, class III subfamily. According to the NCBI Summary, opticin is present in significant quantities in the vitreous of the eye and also localizes to the cornea, iris, ciliary body, optic nerve, choroid, retina, and fetal liver; it may noncovalently bind collagen fibrils and regulate fibril morphology, spacing, and organization. Its annotated molecular function is to bind collagen fibrils, and the protein is referenced under UniProt Q9UBM4. For research use only.
