Description

Assay Genie supplies a colorimetric sandwich ELISA, double-antibody kit intended for the quantification of mu-type opioid receptor (OPRM1) levels in human samples. The assay is reactive with human specimens and is suitable for serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples. Reagents are intended to be stored at 2–8°C for 12 months.

The mu-type opioid receptor is described as a key protein that mediates the effects of opioid drugs and plays a role in pain management and addiction, with dysregulation linked to various neurological and psychiatric disorders and supporting its use as a biomarker for studying those conditions and developing targeted therapies. Detection uses a biotin-labelled detection antibody combined with HRP-streptavidin (SABC) and TMB substrate, with absorbance measured at 450 nm after addition of stop solution.

Reported linearity for serum (n=5) is 88–105% at 1:2, 87–101% at 1:4 and 85–102% at 1:8; for EDTA plasma (n=5) 87–100%, 85–98% and 82–101%; and for heparin plasma (n=5) 86–99%, 80–95% and 81–98%. Recovery ranges and averages are 86–97% (average 91) for serum (n=5), 91–98% (94) for EDTA plasma (n=5) and 88–100% (94) for heparin plasma (n=5).
