Description

Assay Genie supplies a Sandwich ELISA Kit for the detection of human Omega-3 fatty acid receptor 1 (O3FAR1), also referred to as GPR120 and GPR129. The assay is reactive with human samples and accepts serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids. It is intended for research use only.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.312–20 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.097 ng/mL. Precision is reported with an intra-assay CV of 5.3% and an inter-assay CV of 9.4%. Linearity was assessed across dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16 in serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma (N=5 per sample type). Across the dilution series, serum values ranged from 86% to 117%, EDTA plasma from 87% to 113%, and heparin plasma from 83% to 117%. Recovery averaged 101% (range 95–107%) for serum and 103% (range 97–109%) for plasma. The kit is specific to natural and recombinant human O3FAR1.

O3FAR1 functions as a receptor for medium- and long-chain free fatty acids and for omega-3 fatty acids, mediating robust anti-inflammatory effects in macrophages and fat cells via inhibition of TAK1 through a beta-arrestin 2 (ARRB2)/TAB1-dependent pathway, and contributes to insulin-sensitizing and antidiabetic effects. It signals via a G(q)/G(11)-coupled pathway and is a member of the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. The associated UniProt accession is Q5NUL3, and the relevant research area is signal transduction.
