Human Obestatin (OB) ELISA Kit

Assay Genie provides a sandwich ELISA kit for the quantitative measurement of human Obestatin, with reactivity limited to this species. The assay uses a colorimetric detection method and is suitable for serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants, and other biological fluids.

Reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 15.6–1000 pg/mL, a sensitivity of 10 pg/mL, an intra-assay CV of 6.7%, and an inter-assay CV of 9.8%. The kit is specific for natural and recombinant human Obestatin. Recovery averaged 106% (range 100–112%) in serum and 108% (range 102–114%) in plasma. Obestatin is described in the product literature as a putative hormone potentially produced in cells lining the stomach and small intestine of several mammals, originally identified as an anorectic peptide, though its effect on food intake remains controversial.

The product is for research use only and requires a microplate reader equipped with a 450 nm filter along with standard pipetting and incubation equipment.
