Human NPC1 PharmaGenie ELISA Kit (SBRS0937)

A solid-phase immunoassay from Assay Genie designed for quantitative measurement of human Niemann-Pick C1 (NPC1) protein in experimental samples. NPC1 is a late endosomal and lysosomal membrane glycoprotein containing a sterol-sensing domain that mediates intracellular cholesterol egress from the endosomal system; loss-of-function mutations in the NPC1 gene cause Niemann-Pick disease type C, a lysosomal storage disorder characterized by progressive neurovisceral accumulation of unesterified cholesterol and glycolipids. Beyond its role in lipid homeostasis, NPC1 is also recognized as the intracellular receptor required for filovirus entry, including Ebola virus, making accurate quantification of NPC1 relevant to multiple areas of biomedical research.
