Neuroplastin (NPTN) is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily of cell adhesion molecules that is highly expressed in neural tissue, where it contributes to synaptic formation, neurite outgrowth, and activity-dependent plasticity. This quantitative immunoassay from Assay Genie enables researchers to measure endogenous NPTN protein levels in human tissue homogenates, supporting studies into neurodevelopment, memory consolidation, and receptor scaffolding at excitatory synapses.

The kit employs a two-antibody capture and detection configuration and produces a measurable signal via an enzymatic colorimetric readout at the end of each run. Researchers commonly pair it with western blot or immunohistochemistry workflows to confirm isoform-specific expression of the Np55 and Np65 NPTN variants. Each pack contains pre-coated microplate strips, biotinylated detection reagent, standard diluent, wash buffer, substrate solution, stop reagent, and an instruction booklet sufficient to process up to 96 determinations in a single run. Plates may be processed manually or adapted to automated strip-washer workflows.

For research use only, the reagents should be stored at the temperatures specified in the lot-specific insert, with all components equilibrated to room temperature before each assay. Sample handling guidance recommends clarifying tissue homogenates by centrifugation and avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles of working aliquots to preserve epitope integrity.
