Encoded by the BIRC1 gene on chromosome 5q13, NAIP (Neuronal Apoptosis Inhibitory Protein) is a member of the inhibitor of apoptosis (IAP) family that suppresses programmed cell death through direct binding to effector caspases, notably caspase-3. Loss-of-function mutations and reduced NAIP copy number have been extensively studied in spinal muscular atrophy and in broader neurodegeneration research. The Human Neuronal Apoptosis Inhibitory Protein (NAIP) ELISA Kit from Assay Genie provides a quantitative colorimetric assay for measuring NAIP concentrations in tissue homogenates from human samples. The kit arrives as a complete package for 96 assays, including a pre-coated microplate, calibrated standards, detection reagents, wash buffer, and substrate sufficient to run a full plate. It supports in vitro apoptosis research and is intended for research use only, with applications in motor neuron disease studies, primary neural tissue analysis, and comparative work between healthy and experimentally challenged neural samples.
