NLGN4X is a putative neuronal cell surface protein involved in cell-cell interactions, with roles in synaptic function. It functions as a homodimer, interacting with NRXN1 in a calcium-dependent manner and, through its C-terminus, with the DLG4/PSD-95 third PDZ domain. The protein localizes to the cell membrane as a single-pass type I membrane protein and is found at synapses and the postsynaptic density.
