Human Neurofilament heavy polypeptide (NEFH) ELISA Kit

Assay Genie's sandwich ELISA kit is designed to quantify Human Neurofilament heavy polypeptide (NEFH) in human samples, supporting neuroscience research. NEFH is an intermediate filament protein that contributes to the maintenance of neuronal caliber and has an important function in mature axons that is not subserved by the two smaller neurofilament proteins.

Validated for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, the assay reacts with natural and recombinant human NEFH. It uses a colorimetric detection method and reports a detection range of 3.12-200pg/mL with a sensitivity of 0.78pg/mL. Precision is stated as an intra-assay CV of 3.6% and an inter-assay CV of 6.9%.

Linearity has been evaluated at dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 in serum (85-96%, 107-117%, 103-112%, 93-105%), EDTA plasma (108-118%, 95-104%, 97-107%, 85-96%) and heparin plasma (84-93%, 110-120%, 98-108%, 92-102%). Recovery averages 102% (range 96-108%) in serum and 104% (range 98-110%) in plasma. The target resides in the cytoplasm (UniProt P12036) and abnormal NEFH levels have been linked to Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. For research use only.
