Neprilysin (also known as CD10, CALLA, or MME) is a zinc-dependent type II transmembrane metalloendopeptidase, around 100 kDa in mass, that cleaves vasoactive peptides including ANP, BNP, bradykinin, and adrenomedullin. In the brain it functions as the principal amyloid-β–degrading enzyme, and in cardiovascular tissue it terminates natriuretic peptide signaling. Laboratories investigating heart failure therapeutics, sacubitril-based regimens, natriuretic peptide biology, and amyloid-β clearance pathways rely on quantitative neprilysin readouts across experimental conditions.
