NDUFB3 is a small accessory subunit of mitochondrial respiratory Complex I (NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase), with the mature protein weighing approximately 11 kDa. It is embedded in the inner mitochondrial membrane and contributes to proper Complex I assembly and stability. Quantitative measurement of NDUFB3 protein levels supports research into mitochondrial respiratory chain disorders, oxidative phosphorylation efficiency, and conditions linked to Complex I deficiency, including certain neurodegenerative and metabolic disease models.
