Description

Assay Genie's sandwich ELISA kit is designed for the quantitative measurement of human NAD-dependent deacetylase sirtuin-2 (SIRT2) in research samples. The kit uses a colorimetric detection method and is reactive with human samples including serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids. Specificity is directed against natural and recombinant human SIRT2 (synonyms: SIR2-like protein 2, SIR2L, SIR2L2; UniProt Q8IXJ6).

Quantitative performance specifications include a detection range of 0.312-20ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.11ng/mL. The kit is intended for research use only and is classified within the Epigenetics research area. By subcellular location, SIRT2 is found in the cytoplasm and cytoskeleton, where it colocalizes with microtubules. The target protein functions as an NAD-dependent protein deacetylase, deacetylating the 'Lys-40' of alpha-tubulin, and is involved in control of mitotic exit in the cell cycle via regulation of the cytoskeleton. SIRT2 is reported to interact with HDAC6, suggesting membership in a larger complex that deacetylates the cytoskeleton.
