Myocilin, encoded by the MYOC gene, is a 55–57 kDa glycoprotein best known for its association with primary open-angle glaucoma, where mutations such as MYOC.Q368X disrupt trabecular meshwork function and elevate intraocular pressure. Researchers investigating ocular hypertension, steroid-induced glaucoma, and aqueous humor outflow pathways use quantitative MYOC measurements to track expression changes in trabecular meshwork cells, retinal tissues, and other affected systems. This quantitative assay is built for human samples and accepts tissue homogenates, supporting work on cultured trabecular meshwork cells, retinal tissue lysates, and corneal specimens. The kit ships with reagents sufficient for 96 assays in a single microplate, and the colorimetric readout enables straightforward quantification on standard plate readers. From Assay Genie, it is intended for research use only and pairs well with western blot or PCR validation studies exploring myocilin regulation in glaucoma pathogenesis and broader tissue-expression surveys.
