Human Myc proto-oncogene protein (MYC) ELISA Kit

A sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie designed for the quantitative detection of human Myc proto-oncogene protein (MYC) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids. The kit is reactive with human specimens and is labelled for research use only.

The assay has a reported detection range of 15.6–1000 pg/mL and a sensitivity of 9.4 pg/mL, with intra-assay CV of 4.2% and inter-assay CV of 7.4%. Specificity covers natural and recombinant human Myc proto-oncogene protein. Linearity has been evaluated in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma across dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16, with average recovery of 86% from serum (range 80–92%) and 88% from plasma (range 82–94%).

MYC is a transcription factor that binds DNA non-specifically yet specifically recognises the core sequence 5'-CAC[GA]TG-3', activating the transcription of growth-related genes. Aberrant MYC expression has been associated with malignancies such as breast cancer, colon cancer and leukaemia, making the protein a relevant biomarker for cancer research and therapy development.
