Description

This sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative detection of human Mucosal addressin cell adhesion molecule 1 (MADCAM1), also known as MAdCAM-1 (UniProt Q13477). The kit is intended for research use only and is targeted at the immunology research field.

Validated sample types include serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, with reactivity confirmed for human samples. Detection is colorimetric, and the assay is designed to detect natural and recombinant human MADCAM1. The reported detection range is 0.312-20 ng/mL, with a sensitivity of 0.156 ng/mL. Intra-assay CV is 4.7% and inter-assay CV is 7.8%. Linearity ranges for serial dilutions of serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma, along with recovery data for serum and plasma samples, are supplied with the kit.

MADCAM1 is a cell adhesion leukocyte receptor expressed by mucosal venules that helps direct lymphocyte traffic into mucosal tissues including Peyer's patches and the intestinal lamina propria. It binds both integrin alpha-4/beta-7 and L-selectin, regulating the passage and retention of leukocytes. The protein is a homodimer located at the membrane as a single-pass type I membrane protein. Monitoring MADCAM1 levels can provide insights into disease progression and potential therapeutic targets in conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease and other mucosal-related disorders.
