Human Mucin-2 (MUC2) ELISA Kit

A sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie designed for the quantitative measurement of human Mucin-2 (MUC2), a secreted gel-forming mucin that coats the epithelia of the intestines, airways, and other mucus membrane-containing organs. It is a major constituent of both the inner and outer mucus layers of the colon and is thought to provide a protective, lubricating barrier against particles and infectious agents at mucosal surfaces.

The assay is reactive with human samples and is validated for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids. It recognises natural and recombinant human Mucin-2 (UniProt Q02817), also referred to by the synonyms intestinal mucin-2, MUC-2, and SMUC. According to the manufacturer's specifications, the detection range is 78-5000 pg/mL with a sensitivity of 29.4 pg/mL, an intra-assay CV of 5.6%, and an inter-assay CV of 8.1%. Reported linearity in serum across dilutions 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, and 1:16 spans 98-108%, 96-105%, 91-100%, and 105-117%; EDTA plasma ranges 83-92%, 87-99%, 86-96%, and 92-104% over the same dilutions; heparin plasma ranges 101-111%, 86-96%, 104-113%, and 110-120%. Recovery in serum averages 80% (range 80-85%) and in plasma averages 81% (range 80-87%).
