Human Mucin-1 (MUC1) ELISA Kit

Assay Genie's sandwich ELISA kit enables the quantitative measurement of Mucin-1 (MUC1) in human biological samples. MUC1 is a large cell-surface glycoprotein expressed by most glandular and ductal epithelial cells and some hematopoietic lineages, where it contributes to adhesion, cell-cell interactions, metastasis and intracellular signalling. Aberrant or overexpressed MUC1 has been associated with a range of epithelial cancers as well as inflammatory and autoimmune disorders, making it a broadly used biomarker in cancer biology, signal-transduction and immunology research.

The colorimetric assay has a reported sensitivity of 0.1 ng/mL and a detection range of 0.156–10 ng/mL, with an intra-assay CV of 4.8% and an inter-assay CV of 9.2%. It has been validated for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids and reacts with both natural and recombinant human Mucin-1.

Spike-and-recovery testing returned an average of 98% (range 92–104%) in serum and 100% (range 94–106%) in plasma. Dilutional linearity across 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 dilutions was 91–102%, 102–114%, 108–120% and 90–102% for serum, 83–95%, 107–120%, 115–125% and 84–94% for EDTA plasma, and 90–100%, 100–109%, 103–111% and 96–106% for heparin plasma.
