Human MUC5B ELISA Kit

This Sandwich ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative measurement of human Mucin-5B (MUC5B) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples, using a double-antibody format. The assay is read colorimetrically at 450 nm after TMB substrate development, and reagents are stored at 2–8°C for 12 months.

The kit supports research into MUC5B, a gel-forming mucin that contributes to the lubricating and viscoelastic properties of whole saliva and cervical mucus and that plays a critical role in mucin production and mucociliary clearance in the respiratory tract. Abnormal MUC5B levels have been linked to respiratory conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, and cystic fibrosis, making it a valuable biomarker for studying respiratory health and disease.

Validated performance characteristics include a sensitivity of 0.375 ng/mL and an assay range of 0.625–40 ng/mL. Linearity for serum (n = 5) is 87–104% at 1:2, 86–100% at 1:4, and 86–103% at 1:8; for EDTA plasma (n = 5) it is 83–94%, 83–100%, and 82–100%; and for heparin plasma (n = 5) it is 91–95%, 81–100%, and 89–98%. Recovery averages are 92% for serum (range 86–104), 96% for EDTA plasma (range 92–104), and 99% for heparin plasma (range 89–104).
