Description

A colorimetric Sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie for the quantitative detection of human MT-CO1 (Cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1). The kit is reactive with human samples and supports measurement in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples.

The assay has a stated sensitivity of 0.188 ng/mL and a working range of 0.313–20 ng/mL. The kit is stored at 2-8°C for 12 months. Reported linearity for serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma spans 80-98% to 105% across 1:2 to 1:8 dilutions, while recovery averages 91% for serum (range 85-98%), 91% for EDTA plasma (range 85-99%), and 97% for heparin plasma (range 90-105%). The included protocol uses a pre-coated plate with primary incubation at 37°C for 90 minutes, biotin-labeled detection antibody incubation at 37°C for 60 minutes, HRP-streptavidin binding at 37°C for 30 minutes, and TMB color development in the dark for 10–20 minutes, with absorbance read at 450 nm after stop solution addition.

MT-CO1, also known as Cytochrome c oxidase polypeptide I (UniProt P00395), is a key enzyme of the mitochondrial electron transport chain involved in cellular respiration and energy production, and is used as a valuable biomarker for studying mitochondrial dysfunction and related diseases in research areas such as cell biology, biochemistry, and genetics.
