Description

This Sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie is designed for the quantification of human Molybdenum cofactor sulfurase (MOCOS), an enzyme that sulfurates the molybdenum cofactor required for activation of xanthine dehydrogenase (XDH) and aldehyde oxidase (ADO). The kit is for research use only and detects both natural and recombinant human MOCOS.

Sample types accepted include serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. Reported performance specifications include a detection range of 0.312–20ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.08ng/mL. Precision is given as an intra-assay CV of 6.3% and an inter-assay CV of 11.3%. Mean recovery is 94% (range 88–100%) in serum and 96% (range 90–102%) in plasma. Linearity has been evaluated at dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma.

MOCOS, also referred to by the synonyms Molybdenum cofactor sulfurtransferase and MCS, is linked to the metabolic disorder classical xanthinuria type II, making it a relevant biomarker for research into molybdenum metabolism and related genetic disorders. The protein corresponds to UniProt entry Q96EN8, with a calculated molecular weight of 98 kDa and an observed molecular weight of 100 kDa. Kit reagents include a dismountable microplate, lyophilized standard, sample and assay diluents, detection reagents, wash buffer, substrate and stop solution; storage temperatures vary by component, with exact details provided with the kit.
