MMP-2, also called Gelatinase A or 72 kDa type IV collagenase, is a zinc-dependent endopeptidase central to extracellular matrix remodeling, angiogenesis, and tumor cell invasion studies. The Assay Genie Human MMP-2 PharmaGenie ELISA Kit arrives as a 96-assay format and is used to quantify mature MMP-2 along with its pro-form in human biological specimens. Investigators apply it in oncology, cardiovascular, and inflammatory disease research, and to evaluate candidate compounds that modulate gelatinase activity in vitro.

The kit accommodates cell culture supernatants from in vitro experiments. Separately, it has been validated for quantifying MMP-2 in human plasma drawn from clinical blood collections, and in serum obtained under standard clotting protocols, supporting both cell-based work and translational biomarker screening. Colorimetric signal generation on a standard microplate reader allows comparative studies across treatment groups. Reagents are shipped ready to use and should be stored refrigerated according to the insert to preserve antibody binding activity.

Each pack contains a pre-coated microplate, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, recombinant MMP-2 reference standards, and assay buffers. The protocol uses a small sample volume per well, which helps when working with limited clinical specimens. Standard curves generated from the included recombinant material enable quantitative interpolation of unknown concentrations.

This kit is supplied by Assay Genie for research use only and supports laboratory investigators studying matrix metalloproteinase biology, biomarker validation, or drug discovery programs that target ECM-degrading enzymes.
