Human MLYCD ELISA Kit (HUFI07596)

This in vitro immunoassay kit from Assay Genie enables quantitative measurement of human Malonyl-CoA Decarboxylase (MLYCD) in research samples, supporting studies of fatty acid oxidation and metabolic regulation. MLYCD catalyzes the decarboxylation of malonyl-CoA to acetyl-CoA, a reaction that relieves malonyl-CoA-mediated inhibition of carnitine palmitoyltransferase I and therefore controls the rate at which long-chain fatty acids enter mitochondrial β-oxidation. Loss-of-function mutations in MLYCD cause malonic acidemia, a rare autosomal recessive disorder presenting with developmental delay, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, hypoglycemia, and seizures, making accurate quantitation of the enzyme relevant to investigations of inborn errors of metabolism, cardiometabolic disease, and obesity-related pathways.
