Assay Genie provides a Sandwich ELISA Kit for the quantitative measurement of human Microtubule-associated protein tau (MAPT), a microtubule-associated protein that regulates microtubule assembly and stability and is involved in the establishment and maintenance of neuronal polarity. The kit is configured for use with human samples, including serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids, and shows specificity for natural and recombinant human Microtubule-associated protein tau.

Manufacturer-reported performance characteristics include a detection range of 7.8-500pg/mL, a sensitivity of 3.5pg/mL, an intra-assay CV of 6.7%, and an inter-assay CV of 10.3%. Dilutional linearity across serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma at 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, and 1:16 dilutions produced values generally within 89% to 113%, while recovery in serum averaged 106% (range 100-112%) and in plasma averaged 108% (range 102-114%). The MAPT protein (UniProt P10636) is mostly found in the axons of neurons, in the cytosol, and in association with plasma membrane components, and abnormalities in MAPT have been associated with neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease.
