Human Microfibrillar-associated protein 5 (MFAP5) ELISA Kit

Assay Genie supplies a sandwich-format ELISA designed to quantify human Microfibrillar-associated protein 5 (MFAP5), also known by the synonyms MP25, Microfibril-associated glycoprotein 2, MAGP-2, MFAP-5 and MAGP2. The assay is reactive with human samples and is suitable for serum and plasma, with additional validated sample types including tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids. Specificity has been demonstrated for both natural and recombinant human MFAP5.

The kit reports a detection range of 0.312-20ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.15ng/ml. Intra-assay CV is given as 4.6% and inter-assay CV as 8.3%. Recovery data show an average of 89% (range 83-95%) for serum and 91% (range 85-97%) for plasma. The product is supplied for research use only.

MFAP5 is a component of the elastin-associated microfibrils and a member of the MFAP family. It has documented roles in extracellular matrix organization and cellular signaling, with potential involvement in hematopoiesis and maintenance of large vessel integrity in the cardiovascular system. The protein is reported to interact with TGFB2, BMP2, FBN1 (via its N-terminal domain) and FBN2, and its dysregulation has been implicated in cardiovascular disorders, fibrosis and cancer.
