MICAL1 (Microtubule-associated monooxygenase, calponin and LIM domain-containing 1) is a multidomain redox enzyme that connects oxidative signaling to actin filament turnover, with a flavin adenine dinucleotide–containing monooxygenase domain that selectively oxidizes Met44 on actin to destabilize F-actin and drive cellular events including axon repulsion, vesicle trafficking, and directed cell migration.

The Assay Genie microplate immunoassay enables quantitative determination of circulating MICAL1 levels in human blood-derived samples by absorbance readout, supporting oncology research into hepatocellular carcinoma invasion and metastasis, neuroscience studies of semaphorin 3A–driven axon repulsion, immunology work on neutrophil oxidative burst and T-cell immune synapse formation, and investigations of cytoskeletal dysregulation linked to vascular and inflammatory disease.
