Human Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA Kit is designed for the quantitative detection of human Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR). It is reactive with human samples and uses colorimetric ELISA detection. Recognised sample types include serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids. The kit is specific for natural and recombinant human MTHFR, a homodimeric enzyme (UniProt: P42898) of 78,965 Da that catalyses the conversion of 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate to 5-methyltetrahydrofolate, a co-substrate for homocysteine remethylation to methionine.

Reported assay performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.78-50 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.28 ng/mL. Intra-assay CV is 5.1% and inter-assay CV is 8.2%. Spiking recovery averages 85% in serum (range 80-91%) and 87% in plasma (range 81-93%). Dilutional linearity (N=5) across 1:2 to 1:16 dilutions spans 86-119% for serum, 80-113% for EDTA plasma, and 89-124% for heparin plasma.

The kit is intended for research use only and supports investigations into folate metabolism, DNA methylation and synthesis, and conditions such as cardiovascular disease, neural tube defects and certain cancers where variation in the MTHFR gene is of interest.
