Human Metallothionein-2 (MT2A) ELISA Kit

A Sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie intended for the accurate detection of human metallothionein-2 (MT2A) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay, for research use only, targets natural and recombinant human metallothionein-2 and is offered for studies into metal ion homeostasis, heavy-metal detoxification, and protection against oxidative stress. Metallothionein-2 has a high content of cysteine residues that bind various heavy metals and is transcriptionally regulated by both heavy metals and glucocorticoids; it is also implicated in conditions such as cancer, diabetes, and neurodegenerative disorders.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.312–20 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.23 ng/mL. Intra-assay CV is 5.2% and inter-assay CV is 9.6%. Across dilutions from 1:2 to 1:16, linearity ranges from 100–110% to 101–112% for serum (N=5), 105–114% to 103–112% for EDTA plasma (N=5), and 91–101% to 105–115% for heparin plasma (N=5). Recovery is 97% (range 91–103%) for serum and 99% (range 93–105%) for plasma. Kit reagents are stored at -20°C, with wash buffer, substrate and stop solution stored at 4°C.

Metallothionein-2 belongs to the metallothionein superfamily, Type 1 family (UniProt P02795), with a calculated molecular weight of 6 kDa and an observed molecular weight of 14 kDa.
