Human Metallothionein 2 (MT2) ELISA Kit

This Sandwich ELISA Kit from Assay Genie enables quantitative measurement of human metallothionein 2 (MT2), a 61-amino-acid, cysteine-rich metal-binding protein that participates in zinc and copper homeostasis, sequestration of heavy metals such as cadmium and mercury, and cellular defense against reactive oxygen species. The assay supports toxicology studies of metal exposure, hepatic and renal metal-handling research, neurodegeneration models, and cancer biomarker investigations that track MT2 levels in clinical and laboratory specimens.

The microplate workflow pairs a human-specific capture antibody with a biotinylated detection reagent and HRP-based signal generation, using a 50 uL sample volume per well. Absorbance is read after substrate development on a standard plate reader. Reconstituted standards and detection antibody should be aliquoted and frozen at -20°C to limit freeze-thaw loss, while the sealed plate and unused strips remain stable refrigerated at 4°C in the foil pouch with desiccant until the kit's expiration date.
