Human Metallothionein-1A/MT1A ELISA Kit

A Sandwich ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative measurement of human Metallothionein-1A (MT1A) using a double-antibody sandwich format. An antibody specific to MT1A is pre-coated onto the wells of a microplate; samples and standards are added, followed by a biotinylated detection antibody and HRP-conjugated Streptavidin. After incubation with TMB substrate, the colour change is read at 450 nm, with the OD450 value directly proportional to the target concentration. The kit is supplied by Assay Genie and is intended for research use only.

The assay is reactive with human samples and is validated for use with serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysates and other liquid samples. Specificity is directed against natural and recombinant human Metallothionein-1A (UniProt P04731), a monomeric metallothionein involved in heavy-metal binding and detoxification that is transcriptionally regulated by both heavy metals and glucocorticoids. According to the manufacturer's technical manual, the detection range is 1.563-100ng/ml with a sensitivity of 0.938ng/ml. A separate manufacturer's datasheet lists a detection range of 1.56-100ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.79ng/mL, with intra-assay CV of 6.1%, inter-assay CV of 9.2%, serum recovery of 96% (range 90-102%) and plasma recovery of 98% (range 92-104%). The kit includes validated Bradford Reagent for total protein quantification to support sample normalisation.
