Human Metallothionein-1A (MT1A) ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA is designed for the quantitative detection of human Metallothionein-1A (MT1A) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids [S2]. The assay has a reported detection range of 1.56–100 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.79 ng/mL [S2]. Precision is characterised by an intra-assay CV of 6.1% and an inter-assay CV of 9.2% [S2]. Recovery in serum averages 96% (range 90–102%) and in plasma 98% (range 92–104%) [S2].

Metallothionein-1A is a cysteine-rich, monomeric protein that binds heavy metals and is transcriptionally regulated by both heavy metals and glucocorticoids [S2]. It plays a central role in metal homeostasis and detoxification, and dysregulation has been linked to cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, kidney damage [S2] and metal poisoning [S1], making it a useful biomarker for heavy metal exposure and oxidative stress [S1][S2].
