Description

Designed for the quantitative measurement of human Metalloproteinase inhibitor 1 (TIMP1), this sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie is reactive with human samples and detects natural and recombinant human TIMP1. According to manufacturer information, TIMP1 is a metalloproteinase inhibitor that functions by forming one-to-one complexes with target metalloproteinases, such as collagenases, and irreversibly inactivates them by binding to their catalytic zinc cofactor. The protein acts on MMP1, MMP2, MMP3, MMP7, MMP8, MMP9, MMP10, MMP11, MMP12, MMP13 and MMP16, but does not act on MMP14. It also acts as a growth factor that regulates cell differentiation, migration and cell death, and plays roles in integrin signaling and erythropoiesis.

The kit reports a detection range of 0.156-10 ng/mL with a sensitivity of 0.078 ng/mL. Intra-assay CV is given as 5.8% and inter-assay CV as 8.9%. Recovery testing reported an average of 97% (range 91-103%) for serum and an average of 99% (range 93-105%) for plasma. Linearity across serial dilutions was demonstrated for serum (N=5), EDTA plasma (N=5) and heparin plasma (N=5), with percentage recoveries at 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 dilutions reported for each matrix.

Validated sample types include serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The protein is secreted and the associated UniProt entry is P01033, with a reported molecular weight of 23,171 Da. The kit is listed under the cardiovascular research area and is for research use only.
