Description

A sandwich-format ELISA from Assay Genie developed for the quantitative measurement of Human Meprin A subunit beta (MEP1B) in human samples. MEP1B is a subunit of the meprin protease enzyme involved in extracellular matrix remodeling, inflammation, and tissue repair, and its dysregulation has been linked to fibrosis, inflammatory disorders, and cancer, making it a target of interest as a biomarker for disease progression and potential therapeutic investigation.

The kit is suitable for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids, and it detects natural and recombinant human Meprin A subunit beta. Reported performance includes a detection range of 1.56-100ng/ml and a sensitivity of 0.94ng/mL, with an intra-assay CV of 5.7% and an inter-assay CV of 8.9%. Linearity across 1:2, 1:4, 1:8, and 1:16 dilutions is reported for serum (94-107%, 80-92%, 85-96%, 97-107%), EDTA plasma (103-112%, 102-112%, 86-97%, 103-112%), and heparin plasma (91-101%, 103-113%, 109-119%, 102-114%). Mean recovery is 104% (range 98-110%) in serum and 106% (range 100-112%) in plasma.

MEP1B (UniProt Q16820) is a membrane metallopeptidase that sheds a range of membrane-bound proteins, including FGF19, VGFA, IL1B, IL18, procollagen I and III, E-cadherin, KLK7, gastrin, ADAM10, and tenascin-C. The protein has a reported molecular weight of 79,571 Da, and is also known by the synonyms Endopeptidase-2, Meprin B, N-benzoyl-L-tyrosyl-P-amino-benzoic acid hydrolase subunit beta, PABA peptide hydrolase, and PPH beta.
