Human Melanotransferrin (MFI2) ELISA Kit

Beyond its use as a circulating biomarker, MFI2 (UniProt P08582, also known as CD228, MAP97, and the melanoma-associated antigen p97) is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored transferrin homologue that supports non-transferrin-bound iron uptake and mediates transcytosis across the blood-brain barrier, linking oncology and neurobiology through a single analyte. Researchers have applied this Assay Genie kit to characterize exosomal melanotransferrin released by A-375 and SK-MEL-28 melanoma lines, where the GPI-anchored isoform is enriched on CD63-positive nanovesicles, supporting its candidacy as a noninvasive liquid-biopsy marker. Validated spike-and-recovery in serum averages 91%, in EDTA plasma 90%, and in heparin plasma 84%, with parallel-dilution linearity between 80% and 104% across 1:2 to 1:16 dilutions. Unopened kits are shipped at refrigerated temperature and remain stable for 12 months from manufacture; reconstituted reagents should be aliquoted and frozen at -20 °C, with care taken to minimize repeated freeze-thaw cycles that erode immunoreactivity.
